With so many pet friendly hotels to choose from, deciding where to stay is “ruff.” Knowing the hotel pet policies is a great place to start narrowing the options.

From weight restrictions to additional fees, hotel pet policies vary significantly from brand to brand. When you’re deciding where to stay, it helps to know which chains best align with your needs and desires … and which won’t work for you at all.

Knowing whether a hotel chain typically allows cats and other pets, how many pets are allowed per room, much the chain usually charges in pet fees, and their general weight restrictions will help you focus your search.

Hotel Pet Policies

AC Hotels by Marriott

AC Hotels by Marriott generally welcome two pets of any size. Pet fees vary by location starting at $25 per night (not to exceed $75 per stay) and going up to $75 per night.

Aloft Hotels Pet Policy

Dogs up to 40 pounds are welcome at most Aloft hotel locations for no additional fee. The number of dogs allowed per room varies by location, and some properties allow cats. Aloft also provides canine guests with beds, bowls, and complimentary treats and toys.

Guests with larger dogs and other types of pets are encouraged to contact the hotel directly for a waiver.

AmericInn Pet Policy

AmericInn Lodge and Suites welcomes two dogs of any size for an additional fee of $25 per stay. Some locations also allow cats.

Guests traveling with pets are assigned to rooms on the ground floor.

Best Western Hotels Pet Policy

Many Best Western Hotels welcome two dogs per room, each weighing up to 80 pounds. Other types of pets, such as cats, birds, snakes, or other animals, may be allowed at the discretion of each property manager and require prior approval.

Best Western charges a pet fee of $30 per day for each room with a pet, up to $150 per week.

Candlewood Suites Pet Policy

Candlewood Suites generally welcomes two cats or dogs weighing less than 80 pounds. Pet fees are typically $25 per night, up to $75 for 6 nights. And, for stays of 7 or more nights, the pet fee is $150.

Proper medical certification specifying that all vaccinations are up to date must be available upon request.

Comfort Inn & Comfort Suites Pet Policy

Comfort Inn and Comfort Suites generally allow two dogs per room and charges a nightly fee of $25 per pet per night. Weight restrictions vary from 15 pounds to no limit, depending on location. Additional pet types (cats, birds, etc) may be accepted at the hotel manager’s discretion.

Breed restrictions apply in some locations. Additionally, pets are not allowed on beds. The hotel’s common areas might also be off-limits to pets.

Courtyard by Marriott Pet Policy

Not all Courtyards by Marriott welcome pets, but those that do typically allow two pets weighing from 30 to 125 pounds. Pet fees vary by location and range from $75 to $150 per stay.

Days Inn by Wyndham Pet Policy

Most – but not all – Days Inn hotels allow pets and each location determines its own pet policy. Those that are pet friendly generally welcome two pets per room – either cats or dogs – and charge a pet fee between $10 and $25. Weight limits vary, and some locations welcome pets of any size.

Drury Hotels Pet Policy

Two dogs and cats are accepted at all Drury Hotels, for a daily pet fee of $40 per pet friendly room. The total combined weight of the pets must not exceed 80 pounds.

Pets are not allowed in any of the public areas of the hotel, including the dining area, lobby, pool and spa, fitness center, or meeting rooms. And, when possible, guests with pets are asked to use the stairwells instead of the elevators.

Element Hotels by Westin Pet Policy

All Element Hotels welcome one dog per room weighing up to 40 pounds. Some locations do not have pet fees, but those that do typically charge $50 per stay. They provide dog beds, bowls, and clean up supplies, but generally do not allow cats or other pets.

Extended Stay America Pet Policy

Extended Stay America welcomes up to two pets in each suite. Pet fees are generally $25 per pet per night up to $150 per month, but vary by location. Pets must measure no longer or taller than 36 inches.

If you’re traveling with more than two pets, or your pets exceed the size requirements, please contact the property manager for a waiver.

Four Seasons Pet Policy

The Four Seasons welcomes two small dogs or cats, up to 15 pounds each, with no additional fees.

Holiday Inn Pet Policy

Many Holiday Inn locations across the United States welcome pets. Generally, this chain allows two pets per room and cats are welcome in some locations. Weight limits and fees vary by location, but most Holiday Inns allow medium sized pets for an additional fee of $30 to $50 per pet, per night. 

Kimpton Hotel Pet Policy

Every Kimpton hotel welcomes all pets with no additional fees, regardless of their size, breed, or weight. They don’t limit the number of pets per room and provide amenities like pet beds, bowls, treats, and nightly pet friendly “yappy hour” receptions.

La Quinta Hotels Pet Policy

Most La Quinta hotels welcome two cats or dogs per room. The typical pet fee is $20 per night with a maximum of $40 per stay. Some locations have a weight limit, and some allow pets to stay for free.

Loews Hotels Pet Policy

Loews Hotels welcome two dogs or cats per room and most locations have no size restrictions. Pet fees range from $40 to $150 per stay, and pets receive treats, bowls and place mats. The hotel will also provide pet beds, litter boxes, scratching posts, pet toys and more upon request.

Motel 6 Pet Policy

Motel 6 allows up to two dogs or cats per room with a combined weight of 150 pounds or less and does not charge additional pet fees. (The affiliated Studio 6 hotels charge a $10 per night pet fee, up to $75.)

Quality Inn Pet Policy

Quality Inn generally allows two dogs per room and charges a nightly fee between $25 and $30 per pet per night. Weight restrictions vary from 15 pounds to no limit, depending on location. Additional pet types (cats, birds, etc) may be accepted at the hotel manager’s discretion.

Red Roof Inns Pet Policy

Red Roof welcomes one cat or dog per room at most locations with no pet fee. At Red Roof Inn and Red Roof PLUS+ locations, pets must be no more than 80 pounds. The Red Collection locations allow pets only up to 40 pounds.

If you’re traveling with more than one pet, it pays to call ahead. Additional pets may be allowed at management’s discretion, though pet fees may apply for additional pets.

Ritz Carlton Pet Policy

The Ritz Carlton hotels pet policies are very inconsistent. Most properties allow up to two dogs, but weight restrictions range from less than 25 pounds to no limits. Some Ritz Carltons welcome cats … others don’t. And pet fees vary greatly depending on location, from $125 to $250 per stay, with some locations adding a nightly pet fee as well.

 

Sheraton Hotels Pet Policy

Most Sheraton Hotels are pet friendly, but each property sets their own pet policy. So weight restrictions, pet fees, and the number of pets allowed per room vary by location. In general, Sheratons allow one large dog (up to 80 pounds) per room and don’t charge a pet fee. Some of the pet friendly locations also welcome cats.

Shilo Inns Pet Policy

At Shilo Inns, two dogs are allowed per room and can stay up to 7 nights. Extended stays must be approved by management. Weight limits vary, but most locations allow dogs up to 40 pounds.

Nightly pet fees range from $15 to $25 per night. In addition, a damage deposit of $75 for 1-7 nights and $150 for 8+ days is required at check-in. Shilo management will authorize all refunds at check-out time.

Sleep Inn Pet Policy

Sleep Inn generally allows two dogs per room and charges a pet fee of $20 per pet per stay. Weight restrictions vary from 15 pounds to no limit, depending on location. Additional pet types (cats, birds, etc) may be accepted at the hotel manager’s discretion.

Breed restrictions apply in some locations. Additionally, pets are not allowed on beds. The hotel’s common areas might also be off-limits to pets.

St. Regis Pet Policy

A few of the St. Regis hotels allow pets, and each property sets its own pet policy. Size restrictions range from 25 pounds or less to no limit, and pet fees are around $100 for one night, and $25 for each additional night. Some locations allow one pet, some allow two, but none of the St. Regis hotels allows cats.

Staybridge Suites Pet Policy

All Staybridge Suites hotels in the Americas are pet friendly, welcoming cats and dogs weighing less than 50 pounds. Pet fees are usually $25 per night, up to $75 for 6 nights. And, for stays of 7 or more nights, the pet fee is $150.

Proof that your pet’s vaccinations are up to date must be provided upon request. In addition, pets are not allowed in the public areas of the hotel such as the Great Room, Fitness Center, Library, Laundry, Courtyard or near the food service areas.

Super 8 by Wyndham Pet Policy

Some Super 8 hotels allow pets, and each location determines its own pet policy. Those that are pet friendly generally welcome two or three pets per room – either cats or dogs – and charge a pet fee between $10 and $25. Weight limits vary, but many locations welcome pets of any size.

Virgin Hotels Pet Policy

Every Virgin hotel welcomes up to two dogs with no breed or size restrictions and no additional fees. Some locations also allow cats. The hotel also provides a bed, bowls, and stylish bandana for their canine guests.

W Hotels Pet Policy

W Hotels welcome one cat or dog under 40 pounds at all their North American locations. Pet fees vary by location, but run in the range of $100 to $150 per stay. An additional nightly fee might be charged at some properties. W Hotels provides pet beds and other amenities, such as floor mats, food bowls, ID tags, and more.

Westin Hotels Pet Policy

Most Westin Hotels welcome one or two cats or dogs. Pet fees vary from free to $50 per day, to a maximum of $150. Size restrictions also apply, with most locations allowing dogs up to 40 pounds. Westing also provides pet beds and other amenities, such as floor mats, food bowls, ID tags, and more.

WoodSpring Suites Pet Policy

WoodSpring Suites generally welcomes two dogs weighing between 50 and 80 pounds. Pet fees vary by locations from $15 per night to $50 per stay plus $5 per night. Some locations allow cats, and some do not.
